Hello Parents and community members. My name is John Spina. I currently teach Health and Physical Education at BHS. I graduated from Belleville in 1995 and I am extremely proud to be back home. My goal is to provide the students of Belleville with the best possible Heath and Physical Education curriculum. In addition, I also coach the Girl's and Boy's Volleyball programs. The Girl's team has shown incredible progress over the past few years. The accolades include an undefeated conference championship in 2013 and back to back 20+ win seasons. In addition, the Girl's team now holds the single season BHS win record (22).The Boy's program has proven itself as a perennial powerhouse in NJ. The Boy's team earned the Essex County Championship in 2015 as well as being named the North Jersey Team of the Year. The Boy's team finished 27-3 (also a BHS win record) and advanced to the finals of the state tournament. The team finished the 2015 season ranked #8 in New Jersey and also had one player named First Team All State (Congratulations to PJ Gencarelli). As a result of the program's success, I was named "2015 NJ State Coach of the Year" by the Star Ledger Newspaper. I look forward to educating your children both in the classroom and on the court. Go Buccaneers!
