Belleville High School’s FBLA Ring in Joy for the Holidays
The members of Belleville High School's Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) organized a gift giving project just in time for the holiday season. FBLA Community Service Vice President, Karen Wong, and Student Services Personnel, Mrs. DiNapoli, led the event along with assistants, Emely Mendez, Thomas Neira, Andres Pascuizaca, Catherine Rios, and Marco Soriano. FBLA officers, Joseph Murante, Paolo Hinahon, Nicole Posadas, Joshua Pascual, Vincent Abanilla, and Aum Parekh also helped run the event. The Giving Tree was supervised by FBLA advisers, Mr. Woodring and Mr. Fabiano, and BHS principal, Mr. Pagano.
In December, members were encouraged to support the holiday community service project of giving presents to local foster children. The assistants were then responsible for buying the gifts they selected from the tree with the money that was member raised. FBLA contributed $300 worth of favors; Target gift cards, Barnes & Noble gift cards, Barbie dolls, Shopkins, superhero action figures, and NERF guns were among the presents that were bought.
“I’m glad I got to help run this wonderful event with Karen Wong,” stated Catherine Rios, “I think it is important to help the less fortunate, make a difference and show that we care, especially during the holidays. I hope the kids enjoy their awesome new gifts. The Giving Tree is truly a special event and I look forward to participating in it next year.”
The holidays tend to bring out the best in people and it definitely brought out the best of the students at Belleville High School. FBLA continues giving back to the community and it certainly will not stop in 2016. Also, FBLA would like to thank Mr. Pagano for always supporting their community service projects and would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year.
