The Student Government Organization provides the students with the opportunity to experience democracy in action. It is the means by which the students may voice their concerns about school affairs and develop their leadership skills as well. It serves as a liaison between the faculty, Administration, and the Board of Education.
The Executive Board consists of a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Parliamentarian who are elected in June of the year prior to their term of office. Meetings are held the first and third Wednesdays of the month after school in the High School Media Center. All members must be part of one of the standing committees to be selected at the first general meeting.
The SGO sponsors such activities as Homecoming, Spirit Week, DecAWall Competition, Holiday Candy Gram and Carnation Sales, Blood Drives, and the Spring Fling Dance. Members of the Executive Board also represent the SGO on the Board of Education.
The SGO operates the BUC Stop, our school store.
Please remember that the SGO General Assembly meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month. Attendance is taken.
All SGO representatives have been assigned to one of five committees which include: the food advisory, fundraising, social activities, student services, and decorations committees. Committee lists have been posted on the display case outside the BUC Stop.
The SGO welcomes any suggestions or comments that you may have in order to benefit the school. Please feel free to stop by the BUC Stop in order to discuss your ideas with an officer or obtain information regarding meetings or activities.
